The 2019 season of Miss Barbados UK came to a beautiful end on Sunday night at The Classic Banqueting Suite, Upper Tooting, London and Miss Michelle-May Grazette were crowned the new Miss Barbados UK.
After taking a break in 2018 for rebranding the dynamic duo Shakira Hamblin and Telita Alleyne sealed the deal with another prestigious event as they are known for. Topping the night off with special guests attendance by Her Excellency Dame Sandra Mason Governor General of Barbados and The Rev’d Charles Morris, Deputy High Commissioner of Barbados.
As Miss Michelle-May Grazette gained the crown from former queen Miss Milan Carrington-Gomes, Michelle-May was overwhelmed with joy. Michelle-May stated “I was overwhelmed at first- it has been such an amazing journey and I still cannot believe the competition has come to an end. But now I am filled with excitement, Telita and Shakira have created such an astounding platform which I’m proud to now be a part of. I’m ready to continue my journey beyond this competition and do credit to my nation.”
As well as taking the big title of Miss Barbados UK, Michelle-May also earned the titles of Miss Articulate, Miss Fitness, Miss Creative Wear, Miss Twilight, Beach Beauty and People’s Choice Award.
Miss Tierney Fauche took second place, also earning the title of Most Outstanding Delegate in the Heritage Quiz event.
Coming in at third place was Miss Tyra Morgan-Archer who also took the titles of Top Talent with her poem piece ‘Dear Black Child’, voted Most Dedicated, Most Improved and Beauty with a Passion – Charity Project.
Other titles earned on the night were from Miss Cordelia Harrison, who won Bajan Chef Queen and Most Sincere.
The Coronation Night saw an array of beautiful performances by Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir, CPUK Dance Group and Shannan Charles-Murphy.
